Support For People With Autism
With Turnstone Support people with autism receive individually tailored, flexible support to meet their own needs across the autism spectrum. They work with our person centred approach to become more involved and more independent.

We contract directly with people, their families and advocates through Individual Budgets,the Independent Living Fund and direct payments. We also contract directly with families who are appointees and support brokers. We also have support contracts with local authorities.
Each person, and those important to them, works with us to find out what they want to achieve and how they want to be supported - whether for a few or 24 hours a day. Our support staff are fully and specially trained to support each person's specific needs.

Key to our support for people on the autistic spectrum are:
- Environment - structure, consistency and routine make the environment more manageable for people to make sense of things and their day
- Social situations – supporting people to behave, cope and respond in social situations, understanding other people's points of view and perspectives
- Social rules – people with autism may take things literally or find it difficult to 'take turns'. We support them to understand and manage this in their life
- Relationships – supporting people to understand others and know how to interact and behave in relationships
- Sensory integration - we experience and understand the world through our senses. People with autism may experience greater or reduced sensory awareness. Everyone is different and we work with them individually to manage their autism and live their lives.
- Communication - enabling people to develop and understand how they and others communicate
