Turnstone's non-executive board members play a key role in developing and monitoring the direction of the organisation, as well as the quality of the support it provides to service users. Biographical details of current board members are provided here.
Richard Barritt became Chair of Turnstone Support in September 2010.
Chief Executive of Solent MIND since 1997 and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing since 2007, Richard also serves as Vice Chair of the Hampton Trust, a charity working in youth justice.
As Vice Chair and later Chair of Swaythling, Richard was part of the negotiating team that established Radian in 2005/6, joining the new board in 2010 in order to complete the merger and carry forward the values and ambitions which first inspired Radian’s creation.
Richard’s long experience in the field includes twelve years working with Stonham Housing Association (including a national brief as Head of Policy and Planning) and several years as a freelance helping public and voluntary sector organisations with social care and housing issues.
Roger has a background in management consulting, human resources and logistics management, and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development.
His son, supported by Turnstone, has a severe learning disability and is also autistic.
Roger was the parent representative on Project Abode, which organised the transition of 52 adults with learning disabilities from small, NHS-staffed homes to Turnstone Support.
Sheila has a background in the health service with 30 years experience in a wide range of senior general management positions across London, Kent, Surrey and Berkshire. Her last full time position with the health services was as chief executive of a local primary care trust.
Sheila is now working as an independent management consultant focusing on general management, planning and strategy. Sheila joined the Turnstone Board October 2007.
Mark is a Management Consultant, having been a Director and Managing Director of both private and public companies within the automotive and finance sector, specialising in introducing new brands into the competitive automotive market.
His interests are developing businesses, forming strategic alliances and mentoring senior management. He is actively involved in various charities, dealing with people suffering from any form of physical, mental or social disability.
A director of a local historic mill preservation trust, Mark is also on the steering committee of a project set up to produce a report recording the views and aspirations of the local community, and to develop an action plan from its findings.
Michael retired from RHM plc in 2004 where he was Group Services Director and Company Secretary. He joined the former Parkside Housing Group as a Director in 2004, where he was involved in the Nash Steering Group and chaired the Parkside Remuneration committee.
As well as being a non-executive director of Turnstone, Michael is a trustee of two pension schemes and an environmental and educational trust.
Michael also offers his skills to Turnstone's parent the Radian Group, chairing the Radian Remuneration and Nominations committee, and sitting on the Radian Monitoring and Integration Committee.
Mark RalfMark Ralf is a Chartered Director and a fellow of Chartered Institutes of Purchasing & Marketing.
Until his retirement, Mark was Group Purchasing, Property & e-Commerce Director at Bupa. Previously he has held senior roles in SmithKline Beecham and British Airways.
Mark holds an M.B.A. from the University of Lancaster and co-authored a book entitled "Transform your Supply Chain - Releasing Value in Business".
He is also on the board of Turnstone as well as Chair of LICC (a Christian charity).
He is one of the leaders of a church in Ewell and is married to Claire with 2 grown-up boys.
He enjoys skiing, walking, films, computers & woodwork – whenever he has the time.
